30 Meta ad hooks: the swipe file

On Meta, the first line and the first second of video decide whether anyone sees the rest of your ad. Since the Andromeda update, creative also does the targeting: the words and the picture tell Meta who the ad is for. A weak hook does not just lose clicks, it sends the ad to the wrong people.

What is inside

These are thirty hook patterns we use and test across our clients' accounts in e-commerce, services and B2B. Each one is a template: swap the brackets for your product, customer and number. Next to every hook is a short note on when it works and when it does not.

  • Call out the right person
  • Name the problem
  • Lead with proof
  • Make them curious
  • Show the offer
  • Native and pattern-break

This is a preview, not the whole thing. The full swipe file is 9 pages and comes free by email. Use them as starting points, not as finished copy. The best hook is always the one built from a real customer's words.

Section by section

6 sections, in the order we run them

  1. Call out the right personName the reader so the right people stop and the wrong ones scroll past. Both are useful.
  2. Name the problemPeople buy relief faster than they buy features.
  3. Lead with proofA specific number or a real person is worth more than any adjective.
  4. Make them curiousOpen a loop the ad closes. Never open one it does not.
  5. Show the offerFor warm audiences, the offer is the hook. Do not bury it.
  6. Native and pattern-breakAds that look like posts get watched like posts.

Who wrote this

Hi, I am Sarah.

I run Maison Mint, a boutique marketing agency in Tallinn that manages Google and Meta ads, does SEO and GEO, and builds the tracking underneath it, for brands growing across the EU. Everything in this swipe file comes from accounts we run, not from a course.

The resources on this site are free because the people who find them useful are exactly the people we like working with. You get a short welcome series and then the occasional email with one tactic, one tool and one number. One click unsubscribes.

Questions

Before you download

What is an ad hook?

The hook is the opening line or first second of an ad: the part that decides whether someone stops scrolling. On Meta it also steers delivery, because the words and visuals tell the algorithm who the ad is for.

Can I copy these hooks word for word?

They are templates. Swap the brackets for your product, customer and real numbers. The strongest versions come from your own customers words, reviews and questions.

How do I know which hook works?

Test three at a time with the same visual and offer, and compare hook rate (3-second views divided by impressions) and click-through rate after a week. The last page of the swipe file explains the routine.

Do these work for B2B and services too?

Yes. Most patterns are about the reader and the problem, not the product. The offer section is the most e-commerce specific.

Can Maison Mint write and test ads for us?

Yes. We plan, write, test and scale Meta ad creative for brands across Europe. Book a free 30 minutes to talk it through.
